MCP server
The Shipmondo MCP server lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini work with a Shipmondo account through the Model Context Protocol. It is a thin layer on top of the Shipmondo API, with a set of tools designed for assistants rather than one tool per endpoint.
The assistant connects with OAuth, so no API key is pasted into the assistant.
- Server URL:
https://mcp.shipmondo.com/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP (stateless, JSON responses)
Connecting an assistant
Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth can connect. Add the server URL to your client, and the client will open Shipmondo in your browser. Log in as the account owner and approve the connection.
See Connect an AI assistant to Shipmondo (MCP) for step-by-step guides for Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http shipmondo https://mcp.shipmondo.com/mcp
Start Claude Code and run /mcp to log in.
Cursor
Add the server to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for all projects:
{
"mcpServers": {
"shipmondo": {
"url": "https://mcp.shipmondo.com/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code
Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace:
{
"servers": {
"shipmondo": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.shipmondo.com/mcp"
}
}
}

What the MCP server can't do
Some tasks are deliberately left out of the MCP server:
- Retrieving labels and other documents as files
- Tracking information
- Refunding, capturing or voiding payments
- Arbitrary API calls outside the tools above
Use the Shipmondo CLI or the API for these.
Safeguards
Duplicate bookings
If an assistant books the same shipment or creates the same sales order twice within 10 minutes, the second call returns the result of the first call instead of booking again. The response is marked with duplicate_of_earlier_call: true.
Write limits
Each connection can make up to 120 write calls and 60 bookings per hour. When a limit is reached, tools return a write_budget_exceeded error until the next hour.
Untrusted content
Text that comes from outside Shipmondo, such as order notes and addresses from a webshop, is wrapped in a marker telling the assistant to treat it as data and not to follow any instructions in it.
Managing connections
All connected assistants are listed under Settings > Integrations > MCP in Shipmondo, together with who connected them and when they were last used. Removing a connection revokes access immediately.
A connection also stops working if the user who approved it is no longer the account owner.
